Amy Hogan

Studio Mantra co-owner, Amy Hogan, loves to share her passion for yoga and wellness with the community of Northwest Austin! Amy was introduced to the benefits of yoga in 2001 while living in Charleston, SC.  She initially established a yoga practice to help alleviate stress and release tension resulting from daily life in corporate sales, but she soon discovered that the practice was much deeper and more vast than she ever imagined! Her curiosity grew, along with her dedication to a healthy, conscious lifestyle centered around yoga and self-care.  After moving to Austin in 2011, she made the decision to leave the corporate world behind in order to spend precious time with her young children, and to explore different styles of yoga and meditation. She soon received her 200RYT certification through Austin-based Yoga Yoga, then started Total Balance Yoga, a company that provided on-site yoga to local businesses.  In the summer of 2015, Amy and Reena opened Studio Mantra.  The studio, and the beautiful community that supports it, are very close to Amy's heart and she feels very grateful to be a part of it all!

In 2016, Amy began studying with her teacher and mentor, Amy Ippoliti-- an international yoga teacher/author/Earth activist in Boulder, Colorado.  Through many trips to Boulder over the years (and a 7-day immersion training in Nosara, Costa Rica) Amy completed her 300 hours of training with Amy I., but she’ll continue to honor her studentship as she plans to attend many more immersive trainings with her beloved teacher in Boulder and all over the world in the years to come!

Amy's teaching style is challenging, yet playful...motivating, yet mindful.  By linking breath with movement, Amy guides students through creative, flow-based sequences while offering insightful alignment cues and modifications. Many of her classes are theme-based with the goal of applying ancient yoga philosophy to modern day life; and she loves incorporating all types of music into her classes from DJ Drez to My Morning Jacket to Willie Nelson!  She caters to students of all levels & abilities and provides a space where all feel welcome and comfortable.

Her teaching style is influenced by the teachings of Amy Ippoliti, Sadie Nardini, Kathryn Budig, Stephanie Snyder and Jason Crandell to name a few!  In addition to her studies with Amy Ippoliti, Amy received 100 hours of training with Sadie Nardini in New York City.

When she’s not teaching or receiving massage therapy from the AMAZING therapists at Mantra, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Chris and their two awesome kiddos, Heath and Harper...and the family's sweet pups: Banjo and Honey.  You can also find her lounging on her plant-filled back porch with her 3 cats: Avis, Pearl and Baby-Cat!
